US Imported Garment Care Labels

According to the U.S. Technical Regulations 16 CFR 423, "CARE LABELING OF TEXTILE WEARING APPAREL AND CERTAIN PIECE GOODS AS AMENDED," textile apparel and fabric manufacturers or importers are required to include care labels on products sold in the U.S. market, along with necessary warning instructions.

For the U.S. market, the order of the care instructions on the label should follow this sequence:

1. Washing

2. Bleaching

3. Drying

4. Ironing

5. Professional textile care processes

To verify the applicability of these five care instructions for the corresponding textile apparel and fabrics, the following tests can be conducted:

Washing and Drying Verification Tests and Standards:

- Washing dimensional stability: AATCC TM135, AATCC TM150

- Washing appearance: In-House Method

- Water wash colorfastness: AATCC TM61

Bleaching Verification Tests and Standards:

- Chlorine bleach colorfastness: AATCC TS 001

- Non-chlorine bleach colorfastness: AATCC TS 001

Ironing Verification Tests and Standards:

- When conducting appearance assessment, ironing should be done. If ironing is not possible, such as for printed or decorated items, it must be specified.

- Ironing includes: low-temperature ironing, medium-temperature ironing, and high-temperature ironing.

Professional Textile Care Processes Verification Tests and Standards:

For professional care using perchloroethylene dry cleaning, the test items and methods are as follows:

- Dry cleaning dimensional stability: AATCC TM158

- Dry cleaning appearance: In-House Method

- Dry cleaning colorfastness: AATCC TM132

Note: For products such as underwear and infant clothing that are not recommended for dry cleaning in the U.S. market, dry cleaning tests are not required, and no dry cleaning information should be mentioned in the final care label verification.
